We're building private homes
in Fremont, California with a collaborative community of multigenerational neighbors
who share everyday experiences.

Our Concept

We are adopting the cohousing model, a movement growing in popularity throughout the country. We want to create an intentional community and culture of support for one another, striving for deeper friendships among neighbors by sharing community meals, special events, neighborhood work projects,

and community management, as well as spontaneous fun.

The cohousing model espouses the sense of community. Cars may park on the periphery and our homes, designed by Gunkel Architecture, will surround a common area where neighbors are encouraged to interact and engage with one another. Our renderings are still subject to change.

Integral to the concept is inclusion of shared amenities supplemental to the private residences and designed for daily use. Our common spaces will include a big common house (clubhouse) with two guest rooms, quiet workspace, an exercise room, and more! We'll also have a huge interior courtyard with space for BBQ patio, fire pit, children's play area, and community garden.

We've partnered with UD+P, experienced cohousing developers, but resident participation in the planning is still key to our community. Mission Peak Village members will manage the community, not hired property managers. Residents will also do most of the work required to maintain the property, participate in the preparation of common meals and meet regularly to develop policies and problem solve for the community.

About Fremont, CA

Fremont is the fourth largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area (after San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland, in that order). It is conveniently located in the East Bay, near Silicon Valley. Fremont is known for its low crime rate, and takes pride in several other traits:

  • Development does not blanket our hills. We work hard to protect them.

  • We have more jobs here than housing. We work hard to maintain balance.

  • Our public schools and libraries excel. We work hard to support them.

  • We have long been a no-majority population across ethnic, income, and age categories. We work hard to make people feel at home.

  • We have a system of hiking trails, parks, and open space. We are zealous in developing and preserving them.

  • We have long invested in curbside recycling and composting. We are actively promoting solar installations and energy preservation. We are welcoming to eco-friendly businesses and environmentally sustainable policies.

  • The towns that combined to form the city, like Irvington and Niles, still have individual small town identities. We honor and preserve their histories.

In Fremont, you might enjoy live Irish music in a local coffee house or subscribe to the Fremont Symphony Orchestra season. Fremont has an active community theater scene. You can walk to restaurants featuring food from all over the globe. We have ready access to BART, Capitol Corridors, and ACE trains.

A child raised in Fremont lives in a neighborhood and community that provides them lasting friendships among people with differing viewpoints, religions, orientations, and values — and respect for the differences.
